I have a very important question to ask you.  It was a question that I asked myself about two months ago and I am really happy that I did.

Do you know who you truly are?

To really and truly know who you are, you are going to have to get raw and honest with yourself.  You will have to dig deep and peel off layers upon layers and see what is actually there.  You will have to step into the darkness.

When I began to dig and peel, I realized that I had been living my life one sided.  What do I mean by that?  What I have found is that there are two sides of me: a sort of yin and yang, light and dark, the duality of man.

“We need the dark night of the soul just as much as we need the light.  There is Beauty and Life in both the light and dark.  There is a lesson that dwells in both and one can not be fully awakened until they have become one with both.”

It was in this moment that I met Her.  She had been there the whole time hiding, only because I kept her hidden away.  I couldn’t let anyone know that she was there.  What would people think of me if they met this secret twin?

Now, I really don’t give a fuck about what others might think.  By allowing myself to embrace what psychiatrist C.G. Jung terms “The Shadow,” I am now whole and can see things better than ever.  I have learned the reasons why I make decisions the way I do, why I am (or was) a people-pleaser, what I projected onto others that I needed to see was also in me, why I needed someone to approve of me and show me love, etc.…Well, no more.

I feel that I am more in tune and aware and that can only guide me to a bigger and better life for myself and those that I love.

What about you?  What is your dark side that you’re hiding away from fear of being exposed and hated?

While you are thinking, I want you to take a look at a video.  Adam Lambert plays this out beautifully.  Notice his eyes!  At the end, you can see the beauty and the freedom in his eyes when you embrace both sides, Light and Dark.
